Stanley Dean Montgomery

Stanley Dean Montgomery, 87, of Shoals, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at his residence.

Born June 19, 1935, in Shoals, Indiana, he was the son of Wayne and Beulah (Abel) Montgomery.

He married Mary Tedrow on June 19, 1954 and she preceded him in death on September 8, 1968. He then married Carla Martin on July 19, 1969.

Stanley attended Shoals High School and was a member of Weisbach Community Church, which he and his sons helped to build.

Stanley worked at Old Paths Tract Society for many years. He enjoyed hobby farming, working in his saw mill; loved gardening, canning, fixing up his vehicles, and helped build many homes in the community including his own.

Surviving are his wife, Carla; children, Gerald (Exzelia) Montgomery, Diana (Kenneth) White, Brenda (Earl) Tedrow, Jewell (Steve) Atchley, Vaughn (Pauletta) Montgomery, Marold (Judith) Montgomery, Bryan (Cindy) Montgomery, Angela (Edward) Cook, and Reuben Montgomery; 33 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren with one more expected; one great-great-grandson; siblings, Robert (Ruth) Montgomery and Eileen Sanders; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 1968; son, Rodney Montgomery; daughter-in-law, Beth Montgomery; grandchildren, Austin, Ariana, Trenton, and Jackson; siblings, Kenneth Montgomery, Wilma Albright, Marvin Montgomery, Danny Montgomery, and Donnie Montgomery; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral service will be at Noon on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Weisbach Community Church with Pastor John Zeigler and Pastor Gerald Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until the service hour on Saturday at Weisbach Community Church, 10303 Weisbach Road, Shoals, Indiana 47581.
