Dr. Ray Dean Howell went to his forever home with his Lord and Savior on August 2nd. He was born on July 17th, 1954 to Lewis and Grace Howell of Shoals.
Ray graduated from Shoals High School in 1972. He attended the University of Evansville, graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He attended Indiana University Medical School and completed his residency at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville. Ray retired from family practice in 2011 due to his FTD. Ray loved his profession and serving others with years of missionary work to Haiti.
In 1976, he married Melynda (Hardwick) daughter of Bill and Marilyn Hardwick of Shoals. They are the parents of Kristopher (Kristen) Howell, Mendy (Mason) Morrison, Samantha (James) Crook, Caryn (Donnie) Fishburn, Emilye Howell and Katye (Nathan) Clark. He was Papaw to 15 grandchildren, Kayley, Kortney, Korey and Kinley Howell; Macy Ray and Maclaylen Morrison; Jayde, Chandler, Rowan and Clara Crook; Raelynn, Taylor, Joy and Emma Rose Fishburn; and Alanta Clark.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Lewis and Grace Howell; his brothers, Clarence and Carl Howell; his nephews, Duane Howell and Brent Borders; and his father-in-law, Bill Hardwick.
Pallbearers are Kristopher Howell, Mason Morrison, James Crook, Donnie Fishburn, Nathan Clark and Mark Hardwick.
A graveside service was held at 11:00A.M. Monday at the Spring Hill Cemetery with Kris Howell officiating.
