Myrtle Mae (Herndon) Rutledge November 21, 1927-March 19, 2022 Myrtle Mae (Herndon) Rutledge, 94, of Bedford, formerly of Shoals, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford. Born November 21, 1927 in Shoals, she was the daughter of Victor and Eula Mae (Ketchem) Herndon. She married Alfred Aaron Rutledge and he preceded her in death in 1982. Myrtle was a graduate of Shoals High School, attended the River Church, and retired from NSWC Crane. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Hatfield; grandchildren, Lisa Johnson, Jimmy Ragens, Theresa White, Amanda Hunt, Kevin Stewart, Troy Stewart, James Bruner Jr., Misty Stewart, John Rutledge, Carrie Cox, Nicole Hatfield, Andrew Workman, and Katrina Schitter; 27 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five children, Candace Mundy, Becky Costello, Cheryl Bruner, Alfred Rutledge, Jr., and Michael Rutledge; and one grandson, Alfred Rutledge III. Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Spring Hill Cemetery in Shoals, with Pastor Lindy Hopkins officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Queen-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes.
