Mary Ellen Albright, 83, of Shoals, passed away peacefully at her home at 5:23 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016. Born in Connersville, Indiana on July 17, 1932 to Roy and Opal Mae (Tolley) Stewart, she lived in Bicknell, Indiana from September 1932 until February of 1941 when the family then moved to Dayton, Ohio.
In May of 1950 she graduated from Alexandria High School in West Alexandria, Ohio, and the next month on June 10th, she married Larry Dee Albright at the Shoals United Methodist Church. They celebrated 64 years together in the scenic Martin County she loved so much.
Larry and Mary Ellen were the parents of three children, she referred to as her first baby, baby son, and baby girl respectively; Larry Douglas and Cathy Albright of Corydon; Harold Bradley Albright and Lee Clark of San Diego, California; and Connie and John Clements of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Grandchildren, Whitney and Jon Muscutt, Allison and Brad Spine, Jill and Kwame James and Cassie Clements; great-grandchildren, Amare James, Jasmine James, Brooklyn James, Nash Muscutt, and Ethan Allen Spine, all whom were the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by, in her words, “my favorite and only brother”, Bill and Gerry Stewart of Shoals; niece Robin Crouse of Cleveland, Ohio; nephew Billy Stewart, and sister-in-law Dorothy Albright of Shoals.
Mary Ellen was a faithful member of the Shoals United Methodist Church and member of the Shoals Order of the Eastern Star. She was past PTA president at Shoals Community Schools. She obtained her insurance agent license and real estate broker’s license and along with her husband Larry, owned and operated the Albright Agency for 45 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband Larry on January 22, 2015.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. Pastor Joseph Seger will officiate the funeral service on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Shoals United Methodist Church. She may be viewed at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the Shoals United Methodist Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
