Marvin Howard Arvin

Marvin Howard Arvin age 84, of Loogootee, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 31, 2018. He was born January 18, 1934 in Alfordsville to Cletus Harold and Anna Blanche (Collins) Arvin. He married Virginia Louise Milligan on February 27, 1955 and she survives. Marvin graduated from Alfordsville High School Class of 1952, attended Cincinnati Bible College for six years to become a minister of the Christian faith and was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War era. He was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas and attended several training schools where he learned watch repair, which he loved doing. Following his time in Bible College he ministered in Kentucky, Bloomfield, Alfordsville, Liberty and Vincent Christian Church in Otwell. He also was a watch repairman for Carlton Jewelry Store in Washington for twenty years, sandblasted and painted cars and worked for his uncle Herschell Arvin in Alfordville. He was a member of the Loogootee Christian Church and was President of the Martin County Right to Life. He is survived by four children, Esther June Bundy (Norman) Pfefferle, Naomi Jean (Don) Strange, Paul J. Arvin and Joanna Jane (Phil) Ader; three sisters, Ruth (Raymond) Underwood, Maxine (Gerald) Huebner, Norma (Gary) Huebner; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Theadore (Ted) James Arvin; one son-in-law, Roger Bundy; one granddaughter, Jeniffer Lynn Bundy; a brother, Denver Arvin; sister Evelyn (Arvin) Hunt; brothers-in-law Robert (Bob Dee) Milligan, Byron Dye, Albert Miller; a sister-in-law, Mary Alice (Milligan) Miller and a nephew Bradley Huebner. Funeral services are 1:00pm Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the Loogootee Christian Church with Minister Ed Frost officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00am until the time of service at the church. Pallbearers will be Eric Strange, Michael Arvin, Josh Arvin, Sam Bundy, Nathan Heck and Zach Madley. Honorary Pallbearers are Blake Huebner, Alan McAtee, Van McAtee and Brian Arvin. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Cemetery Inc. and the Martin County Right to Life. The Queen-Lee Chapel of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.
