Marie C Jones

Marie C. Jones, 102 years of age, passed away on Christmas Day at 11:55 a.m. at the Loogootee Nursing Center. Born on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1912 in Martin County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Emma (Jackle) Hoffman. She married Walter O. Jones on February 23, 1935, and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1968. Marie was a life- long member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Loogootee and the Lutheran Ladies Aid Society, Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Aeries #2442, and Martin County Senior Citizens. Left to cherish her memory are her family, including, daughters Marlene E. and husband Ray Brown of Atlanta, GA; Carolyn and husband Eddie Sorrells of Shoals; granddaughters, Deanne Cooper and Paula Ackerman; grandsons, Alan Brown, Thomas Sorrells and Timothy Sorrells; 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Wilma Fuhrman of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Nadine Thimling; grandson, John Sorrells; sisters, Louanna Rickard, Freida Palmer and two brothers, Fred Hoffman and Herbert Hoffman. Visitation will be from noon until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
