Kenneth Eugene Montgomery, Sr., age 91 years, died Friday evening, Dec.21, at the home of his daughter, Twila Drummond, in Indianapolis.
Kenneth was born to Wayne and Beulah (Abel) Montgomery on July 29, 1927 in Martin County, Indiana. He graduated from Shoals High School and later from Frankfort Pilgrim College, located in Frankfort, Indiana. Mr. Montgomery worked for The Old Paths Tract Society for over 70 years, serving in various capacities over this lone tenure. Kenneth also worked for the Shoals News newspaper for over 30 years, and drove a school bus for the Shoals Community School System for 20 years. He was a member of the Weisbach Community Church.
Mr. Montgomery married the former Betty Jane Nelms on June 3, 1949 in Shoals, IN. Mrs. Montgomery preceded Kenneth in death on April 2, 2010. He is also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilma Albright; and two brothers, Danny and Donnie Montgomery.
Surviving Mr. Montgomery is two daughters; Joanna Montgomery of Independence, KS; and Twila D., and her husband Dave Drummond of Indianapolis, IN. Two sons; Kenneth, Jr., and his wife Debra Montgomery of Indianapolis, IN; and Tim, and his wife Nancy Montgomery of Massena, NY. There are 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Mr. Montgomery is also survived by three brothers; Robert and Stanley Montgomery both of Shoals, IN, and Marvin Montgomery of Jasper, IN. A sister, Eileen, and her husband, Wayne Sanders of Salem, OH, also survives as well as several cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Montgomery’s family will be hosting a visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at the Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals. There will also be an hour of visitation prior to the service at 2:00 pm, Thursday, Dec. 27, at the Weisbach Community Church, Shoals, IN.
