Jacob “Jake” Richer

Jacob “Jake” Laverne Richer, 78, of Loogootee, IN, went home to be with His loving Savior on Sunday, May 26, 2024.
Jake, the second oldest of six children, was born in Daviess County, IN to Enos and Adeline (Graber) Richer on July 11, 1945. He spent his early childhood in Jerome, Michigan before moving to Loogootee, Indiana where he built a life full of many different hobbies and interests.
Jake is proceeded in death by his father, Enos Richer, his mother, Adeline (Graber) Richer, his brother, Raymond Richer, his sister, Wilma Warne, his sister-in-law, Carol Richer, and his brother-in-law, Bill Wonder. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Lee (Chris Lee) of Evansville, IN and their adult children, Storm Cooper, Isaac Cooper, Chloe Cooper, and Montana Turner (Drake Turner) with great grandson Hudson Turner. Jake’s son, Jacob Richer (Lori Bledsoe Richer) of Greenfield, IN and their children Scarlett and Vivian Richer. He also leaves behind his siblings, Lydia Wonder, Ann Slabaugh (Lester), and Dale Richer.
Jake enjoyed working at Stoll Brothers for over 40 years and spent his retirement years driving for the Amish Community. For many years, Jake enjoyed working as an umpire for the Loogootee Little League. Early in life, Jake supported and was included in many global missions projects in countries such as Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, and Jamaica. Jake went many times, to Tanzania, Africa where he worked on numerous mission projects to support the Illula Orphanage Program. Throughout Jake’s life, he worshipped faithfully at Berea Mennonite Church in Cannelburg, IN. Jake enjoyed serving others through mission work, fishing, playing cards, collecting various antique items, and visiting with family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 6289 E. 200 N., Montgomery, Indiana 47558. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Pleasant View Mennonite Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care, Shoals.
