Harvey Abel

Harvey Abel, age 101, of Shoals, passed away Tuesday October, 25th at the Garden Villa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford. He was a longtime resident of Windom Road. He was born in Martin County on June 26th, 1915 to George E. and Ida (Milburn) Abel. He married Dorothy Johnson on June 6th, 1937 in Martin County and she preceded him in death on March 19th, 1994. He retired from National Gypsum with 22 years of service. He attended West Side Church of Christ and was a Veteran of the United States Army. He is survived by a son, Alan Abel (Gayle), of Shoals, 2 grandsons, Barton Abel (Brandy) of Ellettsville and Bryson Abel (Ashley) of Bedford. Five great-grand children, Abby, Paige, Ty, Elise and Mia Abel. He is preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Andrea Morrow Abel, two sisters, Lottie Abel and Eldeana Harner, five brothers Ernest, Howard “Dale”, Henry, Ed and Harold “Jack” Abel. Funeral services will be held Friday October, 28th at 11:00am at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals with Rev. Darrell Wineinger officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8pm and from 8:00am until time of service on Friday.
