Gayle Abel

Evelyn “Gayle” Abel age 77, of Shoals, passed away on July 4, 2020 in Bedford. She was born December 16, 1942 in Martin County to Gene and Joyce (Sims) Harding. She married Alan Abel on June 6, 1964 at the Shoals Church of Christ and he preceded her in death on July 25, 2019. She graduated Shoals High School Class of 1961, worked at Essex in Orleans after high school, The Ellettsville Journal, was Secretary for Shoals Community Schools and was a member of the Ellettsville Church of Christ and the West Shoals Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Bart (Brandy) Abel of Bloomington and Bryson (Ashley) Abel of Bedford; and five grandchildren, Abby, Paige, Ty, Elise and Mia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step father James Tuttle, an infant daughter Ambrea Abel and one brother, Loren “Tuffy” Harding. Funeral services are 1:00 PM Thursday at the Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals with Stan Day officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the time of service Thursday. The Queen-Lee Chapel of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.
