Douglas Eugene Sheetz, 75, Jasper (Formerly of Trinity Springs), died Saturday, April 29, 2017, in Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. He was born in Martin County on October 31, 1941 to Robert Leroy and Beulah May (Cundiff) Sheetz who preceeded him death. He married Judith Ellen Holt on March 26, 1965 in Loogootee, Indiana. Doug was a devoted husband and brother. He enjoyed playing guitar and banjo, playing cards, and spending time with friends and family. Surviving is his wife, Judith Ellen (Holt) Sheetz; step-son Lowell Gene Holt and wife Debra JoAnn (DePree) Holt, Jasper; two granddaughters Ansley Nicole (Holt) Jenkins, Jasper and Alexandra Danielle Holt, Cincinnati; one great-grandchild Braylen Ruth Jenkins; two sisters, Ruth Ann (Charles) Brinson, Lebanon and Sherry Lee (Hendley) Diamond, Trinity Springs; nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 1:00pm Wednesday at the Queen-Lee Chapel of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, Shoals, Indiana. The Reverend Charles Brinson will officiate. Burial will be in the Hickory Ridge Cemetery in Shoals. Friends may call at 11:00am Wednesday until time of the service at the funeral home. Charitable contributions may be made to the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
