Doris E. Healey, 87, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.

Born June 22, 1939, in Shoals, she was the daughter of Marshall and Mary (Ellis) Warren.

Doris was a graduate of Shoals High School with the class of 1957.

She married Gerald Bruner on June 16, 1960; and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1967.

She married Billy Jo Healey on November 24, 1979 and he preceded her in death on November 24, 2005.

Doris was a homemaker, enjoyed and loved her family. She liked reading, Bible devotions, listening to music and a light for everyone with her beautiful smile. At times Doris worked outside the home. Most notably as a deputy auditor for Martin County, Indiana. She had other part-time jobs and also volunteered at Operation Love Food Bank in Anderson, Indiana when she lived there.

She was a follower of Jesus Christ and a member of different churches over the years. Recently she had attended Redeemer Bible Church in Greenwood and New Hope Church in Decatur. Her legacy goes back to her years at Shoals Christian Church and the local community which produced many fond memories and much appreciation for the support in raising her family.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children Gary (Carole) Bruner, Larry (Lynn) Bruner, and Richard (Terry Buzzee) Bruner; 4 grandchildren, one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald ; and 7 siblings: Donald, Richard, Leora, James, Patricia, Max and George.

Celebration of life service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care in Shoals with Pastor Kevin August officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care at 431 High Street in Shoals.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shoals Cornerstone Food Pantry, in memory of Doris E. Healey.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care at 431 High Street in Shoals.
