Charles E. Tharp age 75, of Shoals, passed away on September 4, 2019 at his residence. He was born August 16, 1944 in Martin County to Frank M. and Helen L. (Holt) Tharp. He married Lois D Miles on December 28, 1962 and she preceded him in death on July 28, 2018.
Charles was a retired truck driver, was a former reserve Deputy Sherriff and was a member of the Shoals Nazarene Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie L. Tharp of Shoals and Tammy (Robert) Goldsberry of Shoals; one son, Charles “Tony” (Mary) Tharp of Loogootee; grandchildren, Andy (Melissa) Tharp, Amber (Brandon) Kirkendall, Ashten Carnegie, Bud Goldsberry, Candi Stone, Nisha Carrico, Tasha (Ron) Crowder and Autumn Allbright. Great grandchildren surviving are, Alexander, Brooklyn, Hoyt, Lilly, Saphira, Maddix, Xavier, Phoenix, Zeek, Aleah, Nevaeh, Alex, Christian, Braylynn, Gaige, Zach, Daylon and Trenton; two sisters, Lois Faurtardo of Loogootee and Beverly Gee of Shoals.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, Jim Tharp.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pastor Kevin Quinn will be officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
