Barbara Jean Harker

Barbara Jean Harker, 87, of Shoals, Indiana passed away at the University of Louisville on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 3:45 p.m. following a brief illness. Born on June 20, 1928 in Smithville, Indiana, she was the daughter of Rex and Effie (Bledsoe) Hayes. Her husband Dewey Harker preceded her in death in 1991. Also preceding her in death were her parents, and brother Donald Lee Hayes. Barbara is survived by her sister Doris Winkle of Shoals, many friends and neighbors, all whom dearly loved her. Barbara graduated from Shoals High School. In her younger years, she was employed by Sherfick Music Company, and retired after twenty-nine years of service from the office of National Gypsum. Barbara was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Loogootee,Shoals Fraternal Order of Eagles #2442 and Loogootee V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals.The Loogootee V.F. W. Ladies Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery.
