Avis Imogene Hitt, 101, of Shoals, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Sycamore Care Strategy, Loogootee.

Born April 7, 1922, in Shoals, she was the daughter of Merle and Nellie Mae (Head) Hitt.

Avis was a member of the Shoals Holiness Church and New Hope Mission prior.

She was a member of the Senior Citizens, making quilts and helping when needed.

Surviving are grandchildren, Sandra (Randall) Vincent, of Washington, Indiana, James (Lisa) Setser, of Commiskey, Indiana, Jason (Christine) Hitt, of Grandview, Indiana, Nathan Hitt, of Huntingburg, Indiana, and Phillip (Brandy) Hitt, of Gentryville, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Beth Hitt, of Gentryville, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Jonathan (Chloe) Vincent, Jessica (Samantha) Adams, Victoria Setser, Bradley Setser, Nolan Hitt, Garrett Hitt, River Hitt, and Hailee Hitt; great-great-grandchildren, Kaylynn Powers, Alisha Powers, Olivia Powers, Laila Vincent, Natalee Vincent, Alice Vincent, and Cora Vincent; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald Eugene Hitt; daughter, Edith Ann Lee; grandson, Bradley Eugene Hitt; 4 brothers, Charles O. Hitt, James A. Hitt, Cecil Hitt, and Hubert Hitt; 4 sisters, Roxie M. Davis, Helen Sullivan, Agnes Bledsoe, and Violet Survance.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care with Pastor James Kaler officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 A.M. until the service hour on Thursday at the Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals.
