Alice E. Boyd, 88, of Shoals, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Sycamore Care Strategies in Loogootee.

Born January 13, 1938, in Shoals, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Maude (Sherfick) Sorrells.

Alice was a graduate of Shoals High School with the class of 1956.

She married Lloyd Boyd on June 15, 1957; and he preceded her in death on April 5, 2008.

Alice was a homemaker, and enjoyed mowing, sewing, gardening, walking, and spending time with her grandkids.

She was a very active member of St. Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shoals.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children Vanessa (Kip) Dorsett, Sonja Boyd, Jeffrey Boyd, and Stephanie (Glenn) Houchins; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild on the way; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; son, Reese Boyd; great-grandson, Collin Glenn; and 10 siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the St. Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shoals, with the Very Rev. Father J. Kenneth Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery

Visitation will be from noon until 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care at 431 High Street in Shoals. Rosary will be prayed at 2:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in memory of Ms. Alice E. Boyd.
